Job Description

Please note this job is employed by Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union, not Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union provides excellent services, opportunities and facilities for its diverse membership of over 35,000 students. With students at the very heart of all it does, the Students’ Union exists to represent students’ interests, help them to look after their wellbeing and ensure we give our students the edge.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Advice and Wellbeing Team. Working with the Senior Adviser and with the rest of the Advocacy and Representation team you will help with the delivery of the Student Wellbeing theme of our new strategy. You will join us in delivering a high quality welcoming, accessible front facing Advice Service, covering issues such as student funding, housing and academic representation. You will be the first point of contact for students, assessing their needs in order to direct them towards the appropriate type and level of information and advice resources including providing initial advice where appropriate. You will be responsible for leading on coordinating our volunteer programme; including the recruitment, training and development of our student volunteers.

You should have some experience of delivering a front line service in a busy customer focused environment, preferably within an advice/information service setting. Experience of working with student representatives or volunteers would be an advantage.

If the prospect of working in a democratic environment and helping students to improve their academic experience appeals to you then this could be your next challenge.
