Assistant Inspector of Historic Buildings and Areas

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable person to join our Development Management Team in advising on changes to a diverse range of historic places across the East of England including buildings, areas and designed landscapes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a good working knowledge of architectural history and a general understanding of planning legislation, policy and guidance to provide advice on pre-application and statutory consultations. Using Historic England`s ethos of Constructive Conservation you will work positively with owners, decision makers and others to negotiate solutions. You`ll demonstrate good oral and written communication skills to achieve this.

You will have strong time management and prioritisation skills and the ability to make quick, sound decisions as your role will involve completing work to tight deadlines. Working with Inspectors and Principal Inspectors, you`ll be a proactive team player with good interpersonal skills and a flexible approach.
