Job summary
Imperial College is currently developing a new and innovative campus at White City with the research activities of the Department of Chemistry being the first academic department to occupy space. This is an exciting time for both the College and the Department giving both an excellent opportunity to expand and further develop the teaching of undergraduates across the College Campuses. As such applications are invited for a Teaching Laboratory Manager to lead our skilled technical support team, manage the laboratory space and to join the group responsible for the planning and delivery of Chemistry teaching to undergraduate students.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Chemist keen to be at the forefront of and drive toward new methods of teaching in Chemistry.

Essential requirements
The role involves engagement with an exciting range of modules comprising taught laboratory classes and projects for undergraduate students. You will be expected to bring expertise in laboratory management, people management, idea generation, innovation and health and safety to the role. The post holder would be expected to demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to detailed design and prototyping and laboratory operations within the higher education sector and to develop and foster various inter-team relationships.

It is essential that you have a degree in Chemistry and it is desirable to have completed a PhD or completed equivalent vocational qualifications. You will have significant experience in chemistry laboratories and with teams of people with a wide range of skills.

The post-holder will be expected to have a good level of IT literacy, particularly with standard packages such as MS Office.
