The Paramedic Pre-Degree Experience Pilot is funded by Health Education England and offers people who aspire to study at university to become a paramedic the opportunity to gain operational experience as an Urgent Care Service (UCS) Assistant. Successful applicants will be offered a paid placement in the role of Urgent Care Service Assistant for up to eight months; training days to support applicants to apply to university to study the Paramedic Practice degree; four support days and one to one mentoring during paramedic training at university.
The essential criteria for the role is as follows:
Applicants must be educated to a minimum of 3 A Levels or equivalent (meet the UCAS criteria for Paramedic Practice)
Applicants must have a full driving licence with full or provisional C1 category (to drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle/ambulance)
All applicants must be prepared to commit to at least three years at university
Please note that additional support to apply to the Pilot is available – recruitment processes, completion of application form, support to gain C1 category on driving licence.
University entry will be as a direct entry student in September 2018 to one of our partner universities – Edge Hill University, Liverpool John Moore University, University of Central Lancashire.
