Global Perspectives: EDI in Education 2026 (BERA)

Thursday, June 25, 2026 - Friday, June 26, 2026 Leeds Beckett University, Leeds

The Global Perspectives: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in Education 2026 conference, hosted by the British Educational Research Association (BERA), will bring together educators, researchers, and policymakers from around the world to examine how inclusion is being reshaped in a rapidly changing global landscape. Taking place at Leeds Beckett University, the event aims to bridge international research with practical approaches that improve equality in schools, universities, and communities.

BERA’s 2026 conference will focus on how education systems can better serve diverse learners while responding to issues such as migration, digital access, decolonising curricula, and global inequality. Across two days of keynotes, workshops, and roundtable discussions, delegates will explore what inclusion means in different national and cultural contexts, and how lessons learned in one part of the world can inform practice in another.

Speakers will include leading academics, classroom practitioners, and international education specialists sharing case studies that highlight inclusive teaching, leadership, and policy reform. Delegates will also hear from students and youth advocates whose lived experiences provide vital insight into how inclusion feels in practice.

The event encourages cross-border collaboration, offering networking sessions and research-sharing opportunities that connect educators across continents. Participants will leave with a better understanding of global trends in equity and inclusion, along with practical strategies for adapting these ideas within their own institutions.

By combining academic research with on-the-ground experience, BERA’s Global Perspectives conference provides a forum for critical reflection and innovation. It reminds the education community that inclusion is a shared global goal — one that depends on dialogue, empathy, and a willingness to learn from one another.
