Inclusive Sport: Unconscious bias – exposing your blind spots

Thursday, April 20, 2023

We all have unconscious biases.  They are the biases we’re unaware of and that are outside our conscious control. Unconscious bias is triggered by our brain making quick judgements and assessments that are influenced by our background, cultural environment and personal experiences.

What will you learn

  • The psychology and evidence for unconscious bias as a concept
  • How unconscious bias can affect performance, outcomes, processes, technology and fair decision making
  • The impact of bias on sport and physical activity
  • How our own lived experiences and unique perspectives can dramatically influence our decision making
  • Practical strategies and actions to manage or mitigate the impact of bias

Who is this for?

  • Anyone with an interest in learning more about unconscious bias and its impacts in the sport sector
  • Sport sector I&D professionals
  • Sport sector leaders
