We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager with solid experience in leading and supervising a team to join us here at Historic England. The role will be responsible for managing the operation of Historic England`s accounts payable functions, ensuring approved payments are made to suppliers, grant recipients and staff, supporting the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Senior Manager in the operation of all associated processes and managing team members.
What you will be doing
As Accounts Payable Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the purchase ledger system, including managing control account reconciliations, control checks for interface failures and processes for all clients, providing advice as a subject matter expert. You will ensure all invoices and payments are processed in line with service level agreement Key Performance Indicators, manage monthly and year end processes and review VAT treatment in more complex areas.
You will be a real advocate for Customer Service, proactively resolving escalated queries in a prompt and professional manner. These strong interpersonal skills will continue into managing the Accounts Payable Supervisor and Assistants, training and developing your colleagues and work closely with HR on all people matters. You will ensure organisational behaviours and values are upheld and promoted and ensure our legal obligations and the expectations set out in our policies are met.
What we are looking for
- General finance knowledge - with specific Accounts Payable knowledge.
- Part qualified CCAB accountant (or equivalent experience) with Accounts Payable experience
