A full time vacancy has arisen within the Estates Department for a Building Fabric Craftsperson (Carpenter) to provide building fabric maintenance services for the reactive/planned maintenance work on a variety of hospital facilities to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
Applicants must have relevant building fabric experience in a maintenance environment after completion of a recognised apprenticeship. Previous hospital maintenance experience is preferred.
The post holder would be expected to carry out maintenance requests in an efficient and effective manner to support the successful delivery of a customer focused estate maintenance service for the trust.
Perform routine duties which may be delegated by the Building Team Leader with the minimum of supervision and have a flexible and positive approach to change.
The post holder would be expected to work on a shift rota basis (late shifts and weekends).
The applicants must understand and competently work on a wide range of Building fabric systems with the ability to diagnose and repair a range of building fabric installations. Must have excellent working knowledge of building services and be prepared to undertake training and development to achieve and maintain Competent Person accreditation for healthcare building systems.
They must have the ability to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on relevant knowledge to colleagues. You must also actively participate in the operation of the planned preventative maintenance scheme.
You must hold a current driving license and be flexible with working hours.
The post will be based at Whipps Cross Hospital but may be required to cover all properties maintained by Barts Health NHS Trust.
