Careers and Employability Consultant
Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced learning and development professional with a passion for helping people to achieve their potential. If you enjoy relationship building and working collaboratively as a strategic partner, our busy and supportive team might just be the place for you! Applicants do not need to have a formal careers guidance qualification but must have the desire and skills to support students along their career journey.
We are looking for a skilled communicator with positive influencing skills and flexibility of approach. You will have the confidence to consult with, and sometimes challenge, academic colleagues to continue to develop employability and skills in the curriculum. You will be a creative team-player, well-organised, able to work under pressure and with evolving agendas.
The Careers and Employability Service supports students of all levels and disciplines along with recent graduates and early career researchers. We provide central services to students, both face-to-face and online, and collaborate across the University to ensure employability is integrated within the curriculum.
As a consultant working in partnership with academic departments, you will ensure students have opportunities to develop and articulate a broad range of skills and attributes in the curriculum. You will facilitate links with alumni and employers to enhance student awareness of the range of career options available. As well as working creatively with various internal stakeholders, you will be involved in a wide range of careers activities directly with students, including group work and guidance. You will also manage collaborative projects to support our mission; this could include developing engaging and innovative resources, delivering staff training and developing content for digital platforms.
You will have a degree in any discipline and experience and skills relevant to learning and development which may have been gained in any sector. You will share our passion for developing the employability of a diverse and international student cohort. You will have demonstrated impact through building professional relationships, and confidently and credibly advising and negotiating with key stakeholders, led by research and evidence.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We are one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
