We are seeking to appoint Consultant in Gastroenterology and Nutrition. The post is due to commence in Spring 2020 as a substantive 10PA job based in the Royal London Hospital. The applicant must hold a CCT in Gastroenterology and G(IM) or be within 6 months of obtaining. Experience of complex IBD and either Nutrition / Intestinal failure or Specialist Lower GI Therapeutic Endoscopy is preferable. In addition they should be a competent endoscopist, independent in colonoscopy and polypectomy and be able to support a SPR lead GI bleed rota. An interest in clinical and basic scientific research would be desirable.
This post will include
Participation in the inpatient Gastroenterologist of the week rota 2:16
Will join a world class IBD team including Paediatricians, IBD Nurses, Dietetics, Surgeons, Specialist Psychiatry & Psychologists
Provision of endoscopy lists and endoscopy training.
Has the option of joining specialist MDT nutrition team
The Gastroenterology and Hepatology department at the Royal London Hospital forms part of the Specialist Medicine directorate and provides both inpatient and outpatient care. The department has a full range of clinical nurse specialists, dieticians and pharmacists. The following are some of the sub specialties that form part of Gastroenterology and Hepatology department:
- Advanced Endoscopy (ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Video Capsule Endoscopy)
- Hepatology (Viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, clinical trials)
- Clinical Nutrition & Intestinal Failure
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease (complex tertiary IBD, adolescent IBD and clinical trials)
- Neurogastroenterology including GI physiology
- Clinical and Translational Research
- Under and Post Graduate Education.
