Job Description

Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly. We work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.

Working for our Consumer team means focusing on putting consumer interests at the centre of what we do, ensuring that gambling is fair and open. As well as being the public’s first point of contact for any complaints, the team’s policy and engagement specialists work determining how best to protect consumers and the public.

On a day-to-day basis you could be collaborating with anyone, from advertisers to lawyers and consumer groups to help safeguard consumers and shape policy. The team’s work is naturally public-facing, meaning you will see the impact of what you do and take satisfaction in defining policy and regulation that makes a genuine difference to millions of people’s lives across the UK.

You will be expected to build and maintain relationships with consumer groups, advocacy bodies, ADR bodies and other stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for consumers.

To be considered as the Consumer Advocacy Manager, you will need:

– Experience of leading and delivering workstream or project activity to agreed outcomes, deadlines and budget
– Experience in a policy or regulatory environment of identifying problems or issues and developing approaches to solving them
