Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly and we work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.
We’re currently looking for a Data Management Analyst to join our team and play a key role in ensuring our data management capabilities meet the organisation’s needs.
The world is undergoing a transformation – data is now central to the way organisations work, and the Gambling Commission is no exception. Along with the rest of the UK public sector, we are investing in the people and technology needed to take advantage of what excellence in data management can achieve – whether that’s streamlining existing workflows, putting valuable insight into the hands of those who need it, or capturing brand new data from the gambling market.
As a Data Management Analyst, you will design and implement the systems and processes required for us to effectively manage our data.
Working as part of the Data programme, you will have access to a wide range of development opportunities and be encouraged to find innovative solutions to problems old and new.
Through techniques such as metadata management, data modelling and using state of the art data collection and processing techniques, you will ensure quality data is used to further increase the effectiveness of our regulation following DAMA standards.
Specifically, you will:
– Support the implementation and continuous improvement of data management across the organisation
– Help to create data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence systems
– Assist with identifying and resolving governance, process, people and system issues which impact data management
– Analyse and identify ways to improve existing data management practices
To be considered, you will need:
– Previous experience as a data analyst
– Knowledge of DAMA standards
Pragmatic and meticulous, as a Data Management Analyst, you’ll have excellent communication skills, a logical approach to problem-solving and great team-working abilities.
The closing date for applications is the 28th April 2019.
