Job Description

About Us

Parks for London is the regional lead for advocacy and action on London’s parks and green spaces. We are recognised throughout the sector for our role in tackling pan-London issues; bringing together key stakeholders; developing resources to raise standards; promoting green spaces; and providing a well-respected voice to represent the sector at a strategic level. We believe well-maintained, publicly accessible green spaces are at the heart of healthy, thriving, and sustainable communities and places.

We are now looking looking for an ambitious and dynamic person who is inspired and excited by the opportunity of leading and developing the Charity to help us meet the needs and challenges of the green space sector, both now and into the future.

About the role

The new Executive Director will be responsible for leading the strategic, governance, operational and financial affairs of Parks for London. This is a hands-on role requiring great flexibility and close team working with three other full-time staff. They will need to operate effectively in this complex sector, not only consolidating Parks for London’s current supporter base but also identifying and developing new opportunities for the organisation, to ensure its sustainability and achievement of its mission and vision.

The Executive Director should:

  • share our vision to improve the quality of life for London’s communities and workers through the provision of accessible parks and green space.
  • be inspired by the opportunities that green and blue-green infrastructure presents to positively address the current climate, nature, and environmental emergencies.
  • care passionately about improving peoples’ health and wellbeing and addressing inequalities, by improving access to quality green space for all.
  • be an inspiring leader who will support and motivate the Parks for London team and others to achieve the highest possible standards across the sector.
