Job Description

The Faculty of Health and Human Sciences requires a proactive andenthusiastic manager to lead the clinical skills technician teams providingfacilities for undergraduate and postgraduate training in a wide range ofclinical skills throughthe use of simulation facilities onthe Plymouth, Exeter and Truro campuses. 

Under the direction of the Faculty Business Manager and Academic ClinicalSkills Lead you will lead on the alignment of the School of Nursing andMidwifery clinical skills facilities technical teams across the existing Exeterand Truro centres and the re-locating Plymouth centre (opening September 2019).Additionally, it is currently planned to relocate the School of HealthProfessions clinical skills facilities from the Plymouth Allied Health Centreat Derriford to the Plymouth campus by 2021, this role will lead on theplanning for that move and the subsequent alignment of both School’s technicalteams.

Throughout the planned alignment of facilities you will ensure the continued operation of the clinical skillssimulation facilities required to support the scheduled teaching of theacademic portfolio. This will include the direct line management of theclinical technicians, management of the resource centre assets and consumableswithin an annual budget.

Please note, it is expected that the majority of your time will bespent on the Plymouth campuses.You will be educated to first degree level or have demonstrableequivalent practical experience. Please note that for this post a formalNursing or Healthcare qualification is not required;  however, specialist knowledge of clinicalenvironments is essential. 

Experience of management of teams isessential and evidence of successful leadership of teams through periods ofmajor change is highly desirable.

Budgetary responsibility and experience of procurement and assetmanagement is an essential requirement, you will also be conversant in currentHealth and Safety practices and legislation.Pleasedemonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge,qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in yoursupporting statement.

 

This is a permanent contract working 37 hours perweek.
