Job Description

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we continue to embark on a major transformation programme. HMLR’s ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data. We are now looking for effective, self-motivated Infrastructure Engineers (Networks and Telecoms) to join our Digital, Data and Technology team to help us to achieve this.

The Networks and Telecoms team are responsible for all aspects of HM Land Registry’s network infrastructure and support the operation of IT services across HM Land Registry’s network and telephony infrastructure to meet business and customer requirements.

The roles

EO Infrastructure Engineer: Networks and Telecoms

As an Infrastructure Engineer you will monitor network performance and availability, investigating incidents and actioning them appropriately. You will maintain security controls in order to protect the integrity of HM Land Registry’s IT systems and data.

To be successful in this role you will have an IT related qualification and / or industry experience in an IT support role with exposure to Networks. You will have a broad knowledge of IT Infrastructure and operations gained academically or through work experience including experience working with one of the following:

o Firewalls and configuration of firewall policies.
o Network protocols.
o Switching and routing
o Corporate WiFi infrastructure
o Cloud based networking (e.g. Azure, AWS)
o Telephony / VOIP infrastructure.

In addition, you will be a customer focused team player who works effectively with minimal supervision.

HEO Senior Infrastructure Engineer: Networks and Telecoms

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will monitor network performance and availability, investigating incidents and actioning them appropriately. You will maintain security controls in order to protect the integrity of HM Land Registry’s IT systems and data. In addition to this you will develop and implement operational processes and procedures, liaise with customers on technical matters and represent the team on nominated projects.

To be successful in this role you will hold a qualification in Information Technology or a related area (Degree level or equivalent) or have held a Cisco CCNA or equivalent industry certification and / or have substantial experience in an IT Support role. You will have proven knowledge and experience of the following:

o Firewalls and configuration of firewall policies.
o Network protocols.
o Switching and routing.

Along with proven knowledge and experience of at least two of the following:

o Network load balancing.
o Network scripting / automation
o Corporate WiFi infrastructure
o Cloud based networking (e.g. Azure, AWS)
o Telephony / VOIP infrastructure.
o Network monitoring, diagnostic tools and techniques

In addition, you will have experience of dealing with 3rd party suppliers and customers, taking ownership of issues and proactively resolving them. You will be a team player who effectively manages your workload, taking accountability for your actions and decisions made.

Allowances

The salary for EO Infrastructure Engineer is £25,247 plus an IT allowance of up to £4,609 may be payable on meeting qualifying criteria.

The salary for HEO Senior Infrastructure Engineer is £36,304 (inclusive of IT allowance of £4,609).

• Proven knowledge & experience of the following:
o Firewalls and configuration of firewall policies.
o Network protocols.
o Switching and routing.
• Proven knowledge and experience of at least two of the following:
o Network load balancing.
o Network scripting / automation
o Corporate WiFi infrastructure
o Cloud based networking (e.g. Azure, AWS)
o Telephony / VOIP infrastructure.
o Network monitoring, diagnostic tools and techniques
• Takes ownership of issues and proactively resolves technical problems.

The final selection stage will consist of a blended interview and a pre-prepared presentation/task.
