IT Systems Manager

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity in the Advanced Manufacturing Research Group (AMG) for someone with a passion for enterprise level IT system administration and management, looking to use their problem-solving skills and customer facing support experience to make an impact on research in the manufacturing industry.

We specialise in carrying out world-leading research into advanced machining, manufacturing and materials, which is of practical use to industry.

You will join the IT team in our large, expanding, and diverse academic department, working across all parts of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Group and will further strengthen our strong international research profile and our reputation for novel research and manufacturing support. In this varied and dynamic role, you will support and engage with engineering project staff across a wide range of disciplines, proposing, designing, and implementing technical solutions within the IT Systems of the AMG.

You will work closely with IT Services at the University of Sheffield and provide a robust, secure and highly available service to our end users and research partners. Possessing a good honours degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, you will have experience of working in a fast-paced IT Services team with multiple customer deadlines. You will have good attention to detail, customer focus and a drive for problem solving to provide a service that is both highly regarded and highly valued. About the Team The Advanced Manufacturing Group IT Team prides itself on providing a responsive service to the AMG and operates on ITIL principles using IT service management tools.

The team is in contact with all colleagues in all parts of the AMG and therefore the work can be of a diverse and complex nature. New systems are continuously required by the manufacturing research teams in addition to internal IT projects, such as asset lifecycle and fleet management systems.
