Job Description

The Department of Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) at the University of Sheffield is responsible for the management of the University's estate including managing property and facilities and developing new buildings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Sheffield’s Landscape team where you will provide effective supervision and guidance for the service delivery of the University's diverse range of external sports facilities. You will be a trained and competent grounds person with experience in supervising, developing, and setting of planned, reactive and seasonal work objectives for the team. You will be the main point of contact for operational queries and will work closely with both the Landscape Services and SAP ( System Analysis Program) Operations Managers performing staff reviews and performance management meetings as required. Your knowledge and enthusiasm for providing operational supervision and support to a diverse operational team will be an asset to the Department of Engineering and Maintenance, Landscape Services, SAP and the wider university population. Your technical ability and competency in external sports grounds provisions will ensure operational works are carried out to the high standard required by our world-class university. You will support the team ensuring legislative compliance, that a positive working culture is maintained, and that university core values are met and that you will represent the University positively at all times. The role is primarily physical and active and there is a requirement to work outside and motivate the team in all weathers to meet business requirements. The successful applicant will support the Engineering & Maintenance Team’s strategic objectives of improved service levels, efficiencies of service, successional planning, IMS process, staff development, and legislative and localised compliance. Your in-depth technical knowledge and experience of supervision will support landscape services ensuring the landscape services values are optimised via continuous development and improvement.

You will ensure statutory and legislative compliance for your activity and align with the University policy and procedure. You will be a driven and motivated team player and ensure a positive working culture is evidenced and maintained at all times.

The post will operate on a 35-hour contract.
