Job Description

The School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering at the University of Brighton is looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with expertise in Building Surveying to join our staff team in the Built Environment Subject Area.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a track record of applied practical/professional expertise and comprehensive knowledge of Building Surveying including relevant regulations.
  • Have or be close to achieving full membership with RICS (or other relevant PSRB).
  • Have a high-quality professional practice/research profile (consistent with career stage).
  • Have completed, or be near to completing, a PhD would be desirable.

Essential to this post is a commitment to high quality learning and teaching across all levels of Higher Education. A significant proportion of our Built Environment degree programmes are team-taught, making an ability to work flexibly as an individual and team member essential.

As the successful applicant, you will become a member of the Construction Engineering and Management (ConEM) Research Group, and will have access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School. The school is particularly keen to appoint lecturers who are research active to support future REF (Research Excellence Framework) submission, and so candidates with a PhD are particularly welcome. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to other research and consultancy areas across the school. If appropriate, you will be supported to gain an accredited UK teaching qualification.

For informal enquiries contact Dr Mahmood Alam (m.alam@brighton.ac.uk) or Dr Hannah Wood (hw35@brighton.ac.uk).

This post is full-time (1.00 full-time equivalent) and is on a permanent basis.

We welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.

The University is committed to an inclusive environment which embraces equality and diversity in our working, learning, research and teaching environment. We particularly encourage applicants from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) background because the university is underrepresented by BAME staff.
