Job Description

Our school prides itself on providing a welcoming, supportive, and positive working environment, and we are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Electronics and Communications Engineering to join our vibrant team of Engineering staff.

In your new role, you will contribute to the design and teaching of the material / modules within the relevant Engineering subject areas as well as offering final year projects in these areas.  Our Lecturers should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality learning and teaching across all levels of Higher Education within the UK and internationally, and you will be supported to gain an accredited UK teaching qualification.

All our academic staff act as personal tutors to provide pastoral care to our students.  The role requires listening, interpersonal and pastoral care skills to deal with sensitive issues concerning students, appreciate individual students' needs and circumstances, and refer students as appropriate to the specialist services that can provide further help.  In order to be successful in this post, you should have:

  • A good (1 or 2:1) degree and a PhD (or close to completion) in Engineering subject area, and be able to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the relevant Engineering / Computing subject area.
  • Experience in the mobile communication and electronics engineering areas
  • Experience of, or potential to develop, quality research, consultancy or other economic and social engagement activity relevant to the needs of the School.
  • Gained, or working towards, the membership with relevant professional bodies.

In addition to the above, you should have a high-quality research profile (consistent with career stage) and evidence of the potential to develop an externally funded research programme.  You will also become a member of the Advanced Engineering Centre (AEC) with access to world class laboratories and field equipment within the School.  This includes access to resources from Cisco as part of the Cisco Networking Academy Community.

This is a full time post, however we welcome applications from candidates seeking job share.

If you would like an informal discussion before applying, please contact Idil Fenercioglu Aydin (i.fenerciogluaydin@brighton.ac.uk) or M. Imran Rafiq (M.Rafiq@brighton.ac.uk).

Interviews of selected candidates are expected to take place during early July.
