Job Description

Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Limited (NHFML) was established in 2012 and provides specialist project management services for large and small capital developments, estates maintenance and a full range of facilities services.

Please note that it is a requirement of NHFML that all successful applicants pay for their own DBS certificate if a DBS check is required for the post. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first monthly pay.

Please note that NHFML is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be an employee of the subsidiary and not the NHS. Please note the terms and conditions are closely aligned to that of the NHS.

We are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Assistant to join our highly skilled maintenance team based at Hexham General Hospital but working at all sites throughout the Trust. All applicants must have a basic theoretical and practical knowledge of Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing skills and preferably completed a basic City & Guilds course in Electrical/Mechanical engineering and hold, or be prepared to hold with suitable relevant training, PAT Testing qualifications.
The successful post holder will be involved in the day to day operation and maintenance of all Building/Engineering services, plant and equipment within all Trust properties and some minor capital/installation work.They will also play a pivotal role in the maintenance and repair of patient electronic beds sited throughout the Trust. All applicants must possess a full current car driving licence and will be required to participate in the Estates on-call rota covering out of hours emergencies.

Essential Criteria:

  • City & Guilds Basic Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing or NVQ Level 2 or demonstrate suitable relevant experience
  • Hold, or be prepared to hold with suitable relevant training, PAT Testing qualifications
  • Basic theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical, mechanical and plumbing skills
  • Knowledge of stores/stock control
