Job Description

The Major Events Panel has two objectives:

  1. Make investment recommendations to the UK Sport Board

The panel considers applications for investment to bid and stage Pinnacle and Performance events across the UK.

Before making an investment recommendation to the UK Sport Board, panel members need to:

  • Evaluate the strategic importance of the event
  • Scrutinise the logistical and financial feasibility of proposed event’s business plan and budget
  • Consider the societal impact potential of the event for the host community

  1. Monitor investments on behalf of the UK Sport Board

The panel reviews progress and provides assurance to the UK Sport Board on those events which have received more than £2m of either National Lottery or UK government funding.

The aim of the assurance review is to provide oversight, challenge and support to ensure that these events are delivered successfully, as well as protect both public investment and the UK’s hosting reputation.
