We deliver care from 11 acute sites including an emergency care hospital, general and community hospitals, an outpatient and diagnostic centre, an elderly care unit and an integrated health and social care facility.

We currently deliver care to around 6000 women a year within the 3 stand-alone midwifery led units, community and a Birthing centre located in a unique specialist emergency care centre. The midwives in the Midwifery led units (MLU) and the community provide support to women in the antenatal and postnatal period while also maintaining and developing intrapartum skills during shifts in the MLU, on calls for home births or on the birth centre. The birthing centre offers women low risk midwifery support for their labour and birth with state of the art facilities including waterbirth pools, alongside women who require care with associated risk factors. We are looking for dedicated, motivated and innovative midwives who combine a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients, compassion, excellent interpersonal skills with patients and all members of the multidisciplinary team and are enthusiastic and willing to develop their skills. We offer a comprehensive in-house training package as well as having strong links with local universities and take great pride in the excellent preceptorship package of which we offer to our newly qualified midwives.
Opportunities may be available for midwives to apply to work within the MLU, community or Birthing Centre settings.
The successful post holder will have the opportunity to develop a full range of midwifery skills in all areas including, low and high risk areas within birthing centre, postnatal ward, pregnancy assessment unit and also be part of the exciting opportunity to be involved in developing new models of care to deliver Better Births.
