Salary:Starting salary £20,538 (FTE £34,230 per an (inclusive of Inner LondonWeighting)

 

The Guildhall School is a satellite partner in an AHRC funded,OWRI Research programme, led by the University of Manchester:. For thetranslingual research strand of this programme, Professors Julian Philips (Headof Composition) and Stephen Plaice (Writer-in-Residence) developed aChaucer-based full-scale opera in Middle English, The Tale of Januarie, which received its premiere productionthrough the Guildhall School’s Opera Department in Spring 2017.

Plaiceand Philips are now developing a bilingual school opera project, allowingOpera-in-Education and Modern Language Learning to synergise, offering youngpeople an immersive experience in both Opera-Making and Modern Languages.Stephen Plaice has now completed a first draft of the libretto, Henny Penny, and Julian Philips hasbegun work on the score.

Weare now looking for a Producer to progress the project through its final stagesof creative development and into its in-school production phase (2019-20academic year). The role will involve:

                                                               Liaising with the OWRI Research Programme as and when required.

Therole holder will be located within the Guildhall School’s dynamic Researchdepartment and will be working closely with Composition, senior MusicDepartment and Research staff. The successful applicant will need strongproject management experience in a variety of opera and theatre contexts, goodexperience of community and education work, particularly in Opera, wide fluencywith the UK Opera scene and a working knowledge of European Opera companies andFestivals. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate highly effectivecommunication and IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook) a high level ofnumeracy, and a commitment to developing new creative work in a variety ofeducation contexts.
