For many people, mental health problems begin in childhood but stay with them and their families for life. Poorer mental health is associated with decreased social relationships and resilience. And people with autism and/or learning disabilities have much higher rates of mental illness than the general population. The West Yorkshire & Harrogate Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism programme brings these distinct areas together to strengthen our understanding of common challenges for people with these conditions and to address the unique needs of individuals.

This is an ambitious programme of work and is a significant transformation priority within West Yorkshire and Harrogate. This requires us to work well across the whole system and with individual organisations, staff and service users. To do this we need to put in place senior programme management support for workstreams, providing leadership, skilled capacity and challenge across the portfolio.

We are seeking a highly experienced Programme Manager who understands Mental Health service delivery to work as part of a small core programme team to support transformation in Mental Health services across WY&H, working closely with the Programme Director. The role will be employed/hosted by LYPFT on behalf of the partnership and support workstream SROs and project managers across Acute Care Pathways, Community & Complex Rehabilitation and Specialist Services, and have a clear understanding of the interface between current operational performance and the need for strategic transformation. This will include:
Leading programme management for mental health workstreams across WY&H, ensuring all workstreams are meeting delivery expectations

Working closely with workstream SROs, project managers and clinical leads to provide support and challenge, providing targeted capacity to take work forward

  • Ensuring all mental health workstreams have clear objectives, clear metrics and clear outcomes in mind and regularly report progress on these to the programme board
  • Ensuring all mental health workstreams are involving service users in co-production
  • Representing and advocating for mental health across other WY&H programmes
  • Ensuring appropriate engagement and support from a diverse range of senior stakeholders and external organisations

The Trust currently pays a non-consolidated supplement in order that all our staff receive the equivalent of the Living Wage Foundation Rate.
