The National Heart and Lung Institute is recruiting a Research Nurse as part of Breathing Together, a multicentre multi-million pound Wellcome Trust Strategic Award. The project aims to investigate what initiates asthma by facilitating the development of biomarkers which can predict the progression of preschool wheeze to asthma. The ultimate long term goal being asthma prevention and improvement of lifelong lung health. More information about Breathing Together can be found on the study website www.breathingtogether.co.uk.
Duties and responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Band 6 Research Nurse to join our study team. The post involves advertising and recruiting patients; screening and assessment; assisting with clinical study procedures (such as nasal brushings & blood sampling); liaison with patients; data input and recording of trial observations; maintenance of health and safety and ethical standards. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to our public engagement programme.
You should be a fully qualified registered Paediatric Nurse with demonstrable post-registration experience in children’s respiratory medicine. You must have excellent organisational and communication skills, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team
This post can be either full-time or part-time (at a minimum of 0.5 FTE), fixed term until 18 March 2019 and is available immediately. The role involves work at multiple sites, including the South Kensington Campus, Royal Brompton Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and in the community.
