Job Description

A leading aerospace manufacturing organisation in Tewkesbury is seeking a Skilled 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join a high-performing machining cell. This is a technically challenging role offering long-term stability, career progression, and exposure to complex, high-precision components.

The position operates on a rotating AM / PM shift pattern, ideal for an experienced machinist with strong 5-axis capability and a quality-driven mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and run 5-axis CNC machining centres
  • Carry out all process and product setups through the machining route
  • Perform manual and CMM inspection activities
  • Conduct self-inspections and complete quality audits to achieve self-certification
  • Work from engineering drawings, inspection plans, and shop documentation
  • Accurately record production and inspection data
  • Provide input into the design of fixtures, tooling, and CNC programs
  • Train and support operators on machine operation and inspection criteria
  • Actively contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance in line with company procedures
  • Work in accordance with lean manufacturing principles, including 5S


Candidate Requirements

  • Recognised machining apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as a CNC Setter / Machinist in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience operating 5-axis machining centres
  • Experience with Mazak I200 / I100 or Okuma MU4000 highly advantageous
  • Ability to work to extremely tight tolerances ( 0.010mm)
  • Competent using manual and CMM inspection equipment
  • Able to read and interpret complex engineering drawings
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative
  • Flexible approach to shift patterns
  • Positive attitude toward lean manufacturing tools
  • Reliable with strong timekeeping and attendance
