Deloitte has unveiled plans to significantly expand its UK workforce by creating hundreds of new roles across its technology centres, in a move that reaffirms the firm’s commitment to digital innovation and regional growth.
The professional services giant will increase headcount in specialist areas such as cloud engineering, data analytics, cyber security, and artificial intelligence. The roles will be distributed across multiple UK locations, including key regional hubs in Belfast, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh.
Strengthening the UK’s Digital Workforce
Deloitte’s latest recruitment initiative comes as demand for technology transformation services surges across both the public and private sectors. The firm says the expansion will enhance its ability to support clients navigating complex digital challenges — from infrastructure modernisation to managing data risk.
Richard Houston, Senior Partner and CEO of Deloitte UK and North and South Europe, said:
“We are investing in talent and technology to support our clients in transforming how they operate. This expansion not only helps meet growing demand for digital expertise but also creates exciting career opportunities for people across the UK.”
The firm has said it will focus on attracting a diverse talent pool, with ongoing support for returner programmes, apprenticeship pathways, and graduate intake schemes. Entry-level and mid-career applicants are both being encouraged to apply.
Levelling Up Through Regional Growth
This recruitment drive also aligns with the government’s levelling-up agenda by creating skilled jobs outside of London. Deloitte has continued to grow its presence in cities like Belfast and Newcastle, which now host technology teams supporting clients from sectors including financial services, energy, health, and retail.
Emma Codd, Deloitte’s Global Inclusion Leader, noted the importance of building inclusive growth into the expansion:
“We are committed to inclusive recruitment practices that ensure opportunities are open to people from all backgrounds. This expansion will play a key role in diversifying our talent pipeline, not just in London but across the UK.”
A Welcome Boost Amid Wider Market Pressures
Deloitte’s announcement comes at a time when many sectors are reporting slowdowns in hiring or scaling back headcount in non-technical functions. However, technology roles — especially in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and AI governance — continue to be in high demand.
The firm’s renewed hiring focus is seen by many as a vote of confidence in the UK’s ability to remain a centre of innovation and talent development.
Recruitment for the new roles has already begun and will continue through the second half of 2025.
