Platform Housing Group recognised for disability inclusion leadership

Tuesday, February 3, 2026

Platform Housing Group has been recognised as a Disability Confident Leader, marking a significant milestone in its work to promote disability inclusion across its workforce and organisational practices.

The Disability Confident scheme, led by the UK Government, recognises employers that are actively committed to removing barriers faced by disabled people in recruitment, retention and progression. Leader status is awarded to organisations that demonstrate sustained action, embed inclusive practices, and support other employers to improve disability inclusion.

Platform Housing Group’s recognition reflects a wider approach to inclusion that goes beyond policy compliance, focusing instead on organisational culture, employee engagement and lived experience.

Tom Piotrowski, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Platform Housing Group, said the achievement highlights the organisation’s long-term commitment to meaningful change.

“We’ve worked hard to ensure disability inclusion is embedded into our culture, not just our policies. Achieving Disability Confident Leader status is a milestone that reflects the insight and lived experiences of disabled colleagues and customers who have helped shape our approach.”

As part of its work, Platform Housing Group has developed inclusive initiatives designed to support disabled employees and foster open dialogue across the organisation. The group has also committed to sharing learning and good practice with others across the housing and social care sectors.

Clare Durnin, Chief People and Excellence Officer at Platform Housing Group, said the recognition was a reflection of the organisation’s values and people-first approach.

“This is a fantastic achievement and I’m incredibly proud of the work that’s gone into making Platform an accessible and inclusive place where everyone can thrive. Our people are our strength and we’ll continue to listen, adapt and lead the way to ensure inclusion remains at the heart of what we do.”

The recognition comes at a time when the UK disability employment gap remains significant, underlining the role employers play in creating accessible, supportive and inclusive workplaces. Initiatives such as Disability Confident aim to encourage organisations to take practical steps to ensure disabled people are not excluded from employment opportunities or career progression.

For the housing sector, Platform Housing Group’s Disability Confident Leader status demonstrates how inclusive employment practices can strengthen organisations while widening access to meaningful work for disabled people.
