Factory International is the creative force behind the world-renowned Manchester International Festival (MIF) and the landmark new cultural space Aviva Studios — a stunning, purpose-built venue that opened in 2023. Together, they make Manchester a global destination for art, performance, and innovation.
Our year-round programme of original performances, exhibitions, and collaborations builds on MIF’s legacy of presenting new work from the world’s most exciting artists — while nurturing local talent and connecting communities through creativity. Every other year, Manchester International Festival continues to transform the city with bold, boundary-pushing projects and performances that reflect the diverse voices shaping culture today.
Our Mission
At Factory International, we believe art has the power to change lives, inspire action, and strengthen communities.
Our mission is to:
- Champion diversity and creativity across all aspects of our work
- Create opportunities for local people to build careers in the creative industries
- Collaborate with artists and audiences from all backgrounds to tell new stories
- Establish a sustainable, inclusive cultural space that reflects the city’s vibrancy and global outlook
We are proud to be rooted in Manchester — a city built on innovation, resilience, and community spirit — and to carry that same energy into everything we do.
Working With Us
Factory International offers a wide range of opportunities across production, technical, creative, digital, and front-of-house roles. Whether you’re an early starter taking your first steps into the arts or a seasoned professional ready to lead, we value collaboration, curiosity, and commitment to inclusion.
We are dedicated to creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome, supported, and able to thrive — regardless of background or experience.
Our Factory Academy plays a central role in this mission, training the next generation of creative professionals and opening doors for people from underrepresented groups to build sustainable careers in the arts.
Inclusion and Community
Diversity is at the heart of everything we do.
Through partnerships with local communities, schools, and cultural organisations, we ensure that our programmes reflect the people of Manchester — and that everyone has access to the city’s creative life.
We actively recruit and support people from all communities and identities, recognising that true creativity comes from difference.
Whether it’s through apprenticeships, artist development schemes, or volunteering, we are building a creative workforce that represents the city we serve.
