Job Description

NWAS NHS Trust strives to ensure that it delivers the right care, at the right time and at the right place to all our patients. As the Trust continues with the implementation of the Keogh recommendations and general expansion of Urgent Care we are looking to recruit an individual to work as Assistant Clinical Lead within our Urgent Care Desk sites. We are looking for a highly capable clinical leader, who has the drive and ambition to develop Urgent Care across the Trust and to support our clinical workforce.

The post holder will be an experienced Nurse or Paramedic, who can provide clinical leadership & supervision to a team of clinicians within the Urgent Care Desk, across our Emergency Operations Centres and in face-to-face operational practice. Our clinicians use the Manchester Triage System to provide enhanced secondary telephone triage and face-to-face assessment of patients, with a view to referral into the most appropriate pathway for their healthcare needs. We also provide an operational response to patients through admission avoidance cars operating out of UCD sites, which clinicians rotate onto as part of core duties.

The post holder will be required to ensure that patients are managed in a way that meets their clinical presentation, including provision of remote clinical advice, face-to-face support to our clinicians and other operational clinical resources. The post holder will contribute to the development of the wider Urgent Care agenda within the Trust by supporting the development of Urgent Care services, care pathways, clinical performance, safety indicators and clinical triage systems.

The full time post is offered at Elm House. The team currently works on a rota system which operates from 0600-0200 hours over the full seven day week. The role includes travel to other sites as necessary, with business mileage and other expenses being reimbursed as per Trust policy.
