Job Description

The University of Sheffield is creating a new Safeguarding and Welfare Unit, launching spring 2024. This role will be responsible for the leadership of this new team at this exciting time. Under the direction of the Head of Student Experience and Support (SES), the post holder will take a lead role in the implementation of the University’s new Safeguarding Policy and associated procedures and ensuring that the team consistently delivers a robust service in the management of all matters relating to safeguarding. This includes Prevent, management of the Report and Support system, oversight of Sexual Violence and Misconduct cases and procedures, leadership of the Risk Assessment Panel procedure and responding to critical incidents. The Section Lead for Safeguarding and Welfare will lead a team of five new roles and work collaboratively with
colleagues across the institution to ensure compliance with relevant procedures and legislation. As part of the leadership team within Student Experience and Support, the post holder will play a key role in ensuring that the Service delivers an excellent service to students, to support them through their journey at University, whatever their circumstances.
