This IT Manager role is responsible for leading the team that supports a number of institutions within the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
As an experienced technical IT Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that business critical IT services continue to operate to expected service levels and are appropriately scaled to meet a growing demand for IT services. Leading a team of nine people, you will enable the delivery of a range of services from desktop provision to providing direct support for research functions, such as 3D imaging. The service has two main functions: Support Services (front-line customer facing support) and Infrastructure and DevOps (providing the technical back-end expertise to support services as the Network, Servers and Storage, End-user Compute and some website functions).
You will ensure that the IT Service strategy remains under continual review, informed by developments in the School IT strategy, other University strategies and the needs of the departments you support. You will work closely with the School IT Business Manager and the University Information Service (UIS) to ensure services and solutions are flexible and appropriate to support teaching, research and administration. To excel in this role, you will join us with: – A Degree/postgraduate level education/ level 7 vocational qualification or equivalent experience; – Experience of contributing to the development of strategic technical plans which deliver department wide change; – Experienced technical manager with the ability to managing teams for quality results; – Evidence of working at a strategic level in an organisation or department to create and deliver department wide change; – Demonstrable experience of IT, leadership and management
