Job Description

Registered Nurses, Mental Health, work as community mental health nurses. They operate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a safe and effective community mental health service to service personnel, in order to enhance and sustain the operational effectiveness of the UK Armed Forces.

Typical Responsibilities:

Provide assessment, care planning, co-ordination, evaluation and monitoring of specific evidence based therapies/treatment to patients.

Provide Mental Health Medical support to Aeromedical Evacuations from locations worldwide.

Deploy to areas of conflict when required to provide Mental Health Support to deployed UK Armed Forces.

Similar civilian roles include: Community Psychiatric Nurse.

27 days per year for 12 years minimum. Each year includes a 15 day block for general RAF training, which is taken over a two week period, and 12 days for additional/trade training, or training exercises.

The possibility of being deployed to a UK or overseas base for up to 6 months after the first year.

Job requirements

Qualifications:

You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). You must also hold a current full UK driving licence. However, candidates may apply in their final year of RN(A) training – up to 6-12 months before RN(A) qualification and whilst waiting for NMC Registration.

Age:

21- 35 years (to begin basic training before 36th birthday).
