Set up under the Gambling Act 2005, the Gambling Commission is committed to safeguarding the public against any detrimental impact brought about by gambling. We do this by keeping crime out, protecting children and vulnerable people and ensuring the commercial gambling industry is run fairly and openly. We work with the legal system, the public health system, community groups and the industry itself to understand how we can protect the interests of as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.
Joining us as our Consumer Policy Manager means joining a dynamic, high profile sector and being at the cutting edge of regulation, where the work you do has a real impact on people’s lives. It also means joining an organisation that is inclusive, that respects work-life balance and is completely dedicated to helping you achieve your full potential. Whether that’s through flexible working, really understanding how you work best or exposing you to real opportunities to challenge yourself, if you’re passionate about making your mark on the industry and on society, then we will help you do that.
Working for our Consumer team means focusing on putting consumer interests at the centre of what we do, ensuring that gambling is fair and open. As well as being the public’s first point of contact for any complaints, the team’s policy and engagement specialists work determining how best to protect consumers and the public.
On a day-to-day basis you could be collaborating with anyone, from advertisers to lawyers and consumer groups to help safeguard consumers and shape policy. The team’s work is naturally public-facing, meaning you will see the impact of what you do and take satisfaction in defining policy and regulation that makes a genuine difference to millions of people’s lives across the UK.
You will play a key role in delivering our ambitious three year strategy, which presents a vision for the kind of gambling market we want to see: one that is fairer and safer for consumers.
We’re looking for someone who can become an integral part of our team of policy experts and lead on key projects relating to the fair and open licensing objective to protect the interests of consumers. This includes working on key subject areas such as marketing and advertising, and fairness of contract terms and conditions.
To be considered as the Consumer Policy Manager, you will need:
– Previous experience of developing and shaping policy, particularly relating to consumer protection
– Experience of leading and delivering workstream or project activity to agreed outcomes, deadlines and budget
This is your opportunity to play a key role in regulating a high-profile industry and safeguarding millions of people’s lives across the UK. You’ll shape the public debate, work at the forefront of a continually evolving sector and ultimately see the positive impact of your work on the public every day.
It’s challenging, but hugely rewarding and if you’re someone that’s genuinely passionate about making your mark and helping protect society, then join us – this is your opportunity to make a difference.
